Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Warrington

Morgan Sindall is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across key business areas and drive profitability on high-profile projects. If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for delivering commercial excellence and possess a strong background in construction, this is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in our continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead all commercial aspects, shaping strategies that align with our business goals, maximise profitability, and deliver on budget.
  • Business Development: Actively contribute to the business by sourcing and winning new opportunities through well-planned bid strategies.
  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks, while also capitalising on emerging opportunities.
  • Commercial Reporting: Ensure all commercial reporting processes, including monthly reports, project reviews, and forecasts, are carried out efficiently.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and support the commercial teams, ensuring their professional growth and delivering commercial solutions.
  • Procurement & Supply Chain: Oversee procurement in line with Morgan Sindall’s supply chain strategy, ensuring value for money and strong supplier relationships.
  • Contract Management: Take ownership of contractual negotiations and processes, managing disputes and ensuring smooth contract delivery and closeout.
  • Legacy Project Management: Drive the closure of legacy issues and maintain ownership of older projects, ensuring a seamless transition and resolution.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline (RICS accreditation preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage monthly reporting processes, including Cost Value Reporting (CVR).
  • Strong experience in commercial management of sub-contractors, including procurement, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Working knowledge of COINS.
  • Experience setting up and managing direct labour, plant, and materials on construction projects.
  • Expertise in dispute resolution and contractual negotiation.
