Opportunity:

Following a high volume of success securing work within the Energy sector over the past 24months, we have a fantastic opportunity within our Energy business for an ambitious and talented Bid Manager, to oversee our preconstruction and early contractor involvement (ECI) activities.

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated managers.

We are looking for managers who have a wealth of knowledge in the main contracting market and are happy to consider Design Managers & Engineering Managers looking to progress to a Bid Manager role

Currently focussed on the Energy & Defence sectors, our business is evolving to ensure that we remain a major player as the UK adapts to climate change and achieves carbon net zero.

 

About the role

As a bid manager you will:

  • Provide and manage an overall bid programme, including the production of presentation of the bid progress at distinct governance gateways (kick off, mid-bid and settlement)
  • Produce and deliver client presentations, chair client TQ meetings and undertaken precontract site visits
  • Prepare and run bid workshops including bid strategy, win themes, design, risk, programme and constructability reviews
  • Proactively work with the operational teams, supply chain and specialists to seek the optimal solution to differentiate the bid, including innovation
  • Review successful and unsuccessful submissions, feedback and lessons learnt to promote continuous improvement. Provide relevant feedback to Senior Management and other stakeholders as required. Striving for continual development of the precontract team.

 

About you

You will be an experienced Bid Manager, Engineering Manager or Design Manager with more than 5 years experience with the following attributes:

  • Experience of Civils, Infrastructure, Energy or Water projects greater than £20m from PQQs to ITTs
  • Experience of bidding or working on the pre-construction engineering phase and securing complex frameworks preferred
  • Experience of NEC 3 & 4 contract mechanisms and requirements with a strong commercial acumen
  • Degree qualified with an engineering discipline preferred - Undertake detailed client, project and stakeholder research as bid preparation
  • An in-depth knowledge and management of supply chain engagement at preconstruction to support estimating
  • Appreciation and knowledge of proposals, estimating and programme (P6) requirements to underpin a robust and successful bid
  • The ability to manage and control a bid programme and deliverables engaging with discipline leads / specialist matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders to develop a winning bid

  • High standard of skills with Microsoft applications.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
